About vNext Systems
I'm Dave Smith, Founder and Principal Consultant. You might think from the list of services I offer that I'm just a techie. Before I started developing solutions for Allegro, I spent years doing traditional BA work (scoping, requirements gathering, process flows, etc.) and tools development in Access/Excel with VBA. I've saved my employers millions of dollars over the years with the tools I've developed. And, along the way, I learned how to get the most out of the (often very limited) technologies available to me.
My introduction to Allegro began as a BA and Allegro administrator for a natural gas trading company. I worked there for a few years, building skills and experience until I moved into consulting.
I have experience with data engineering in Azure. I have worked with both Python and R for data analysis, and have a broad understanding of statistical learning models (e.g. regression, classification, and unsupervised learning).
These wide-ranging skills and experiences give me a unique perspective that I bring to every engagement.
A typical engagement
I start by seeking to understand the business problems you want to solve and the value that you'll get from solving those problems. I'll help flesh out existing requirements so we're both clear on what you want.
Next I'll design a technical solution. I'll walk you through the design to make sure it makes sense, and to see if it unearths any new requirements. When the design is complete, I'll develop your solution.
During the development phase, I'll bake in the non-functional requirements that everyone wants but few explicitly ask for. Examples include:
- •The UI should be reasonably intuitive.
- •The solution should be fast.
- •The steps a user must take to execute a process should be clear and easy to follow.
- •When it makes sense, the solution should be built so that new requirements are implemented via configuration instead of code.
You might think these things are obvious and you shouldn't have to ask for them. And when you work with vNext, you don't.
Bottom line: I want to give you the solution you actually want, not just the solution you asked for.
